This variety forms a broad crown of long, gracefully weeping branches. Dark pink buds open to double flowers in paler pink shades. The floral display lasts a week or so longer than most other flowering cherries. A very old variety, dating back to the 17th century in Japan, it is an elegant ornamental tree for the landscape.
