‘Emerald City’ makes for a very handsome specimen in the landscape, prized for being more compact and darker in color than the species. Its foliage is a glossy, deep green, turning a lovely golden yellow in the fall. In springtime, yellow tulip-like blooms with orange centers emerge providing food and shelter for birds and butterflies.
